LOOMS AND LABOR: Imogen-Blue Hinojosa, Performance “The Loving Smears”, November 25, 7:00 PM

The Loving Smears is a body essay that reconstructs the artist's gender transition over a span of seven years. The work moves elliptically through medical interventions and trans experiences, reflecting on  sexuality, assault, motherhood, illness, loss and love. Utilizing an autoethnographic approach to art making, this work re-presents the artist's body as saturated with social politics, desire and sexuality, violence and resilience, and invites viewers into a vulnerable here and now, in which surfeits of memory, trauma, and desire meld together.

Performance will take place at Pickle Bar. Free admission.
No registration is required.

Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Performance starts at 7:00 PM.

Imogen-Blue Hinojosa is a contemporary Mexican-American artist known for her performance, video, photography, and textile work who lives and works between the US, UK, and DE. Hinojosa’s practice places us in an alternate world where we slip between autobiography and fiction.
