S&T RESIDENCY: Teodora Jeremić and Kamilė Krasauskaitė, “Lessons From the Yeast”, 3 December 2021, 6 PM

For every species “living” means “collaborating”. Even if we are not aware of it, daily we need help and assistance from others, both human and non-human, which makes collaboration the foundation of our mundane lives. 

The lecture-performance “Labour of love” is an invisible investment that tells the story of connection, patience and dedication with an unpredictable ending. Through her research-based presentation and by using sourdough and the processes of fermentation as a change catalyst, Kamilė Krasauskaitė will open up the question of building new structures and connections with others, and present what cohabiting and collaboration between two strangers looks like in a microbial universe. Do opposites really attract? Are they capable of building strange, unique, and solid structures together?

The “Lessons from the yeast” zine presents a collection of thoughts, experiences, and ideas, as well as notes on past and futures of collaborating, cohabiting, coliving, coworking, constructing, connection, communication, contradictions, and correspondences.

Teodora Jeremić is an art historian, curator and editor focused on researching the intersection of decolonial practices, feminist resistance and ecological thought.

Kamilė Krasauskaitė is a multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Vilnius, Brussels and Paris. Her practice comprises various formats, from installations and sculptures to publications and social events, using sourdough as one of her main media.
