VIENNA FESTWOCHEN: adO/Aptive collective, “Reading Group”, 15 May, 21 May, 28 May, 4 June 2022, 4:30–8:00 PM

Upon invitation by the Pickle Bar, the adO/Aptive collective will host four reading sessions.  With the works of authors like Sayak Valencia, Bernard Stiegler, Thomas Moynihan, Tiqqun, Sadie Plant, and Heinz von Foerster, they invite a particular form of engagement with contemporary theory. Following the hyperbolic catchphrase: “Ferment Fear in Terra Or...”, the group will read and discuss scientific, critical, and speculative texts that aim to transform cultural myths, defy patrilineal legacies, and revisit discourses about belonging, identity, or technology. Throughout the four sessions, the group will dig into issues that concern those who want to interact with past, present, and future states of affairs.

The adO/Aptive collective is committed to fomenting critical thinking, potential action, communication and Otherness by adopting techniques to situate adaptive processes. It was first initiated as a reading group in 2019 and evolved into a fluid identity with its core_members now being Janina Weißengruber and Daniel Hüttler.

Besides a regular reading group conducted at school in Vienna or online, they organize the rA/Upture conference (Oktober 2020 at nadaLokal in Vienna & May 2021 at OFF-Biennial Budapest), work on collective publications and other artistic projects at the intersection of experimentation, speculation and critique.
